Charts analysis: Rod Stewart rules albums chart

Pensioner pop rules the chart as never before with young whippersnapper Eminem – 46 later this month – swept off the top of the album chart, with 73-year-old Rod Stewart taking the throne and 72-year-old Cher in runners-up slot.

It is the first ever Top 2 made up of septuagenarians, and Stewart is (just) the second oldest male soloist to have a No.1 – only Paul Simon, who was 74 years when he topped with Stranger To Stranger in 2016 ...
