Deezer appoints Nigel Harding to senior artist marketing role

Deezer has appointed Nigel Harding as its new VP of artist marketing.

It follows the departure of Sulinna Ong, who was in the same role from September 2016.

Harding will lead Deezer’s artist marketing team as they work to enable artists, labels and managers grow their fanbases and reach new listeners. In the role, he will work with the artist marketing team to develop special campaigns and projects, including the Deezer Next programme.

Harding has 20 years of music industry experience and joins from Sony’s Nothing Else Matters Records, where he held the position of co-director. He focused on label management and A&R for dance music.

Alexander Holland, Deezer’s chief content and product officer, said:“Helping talented artists reach new and bigger audiences is one of the most rewarding things we can do as a streaming service. I look forward to working closely with Nigel to build on the wide range of creative marketing activations we’ve done with artists so far and to continue building Deezer’s standing with artists all over the world.”

Harding’s previous experience included artist promotion and national radio programming. Harding also spent two years on playlisting strategy for Apple Music and over nine years at the BBC, where he supervised BBC Radio 1’s mainstream music output and booked acts for the Live Lounge and Big Weekend.
