Spotify has surpassed 60 million subscribers, the Swedish company has revealed in its latest metrics for July.

It’s a marked increase on the 50 million subscribers reported in March and puts Spotify well ahead of Apple Music.

As well as hitting the milestone for paid users last month, Spotify reported 140 million ‘active’ users including subscription and ad-funded tiers earlier this summer. The streaming service is now available in more than 60 territories.

The figures come ahead of plans for an IPO, possibly by late 2017.
