YouTube Music lands on Sonos

Following its launch last summer, YouTube Music is shaping up as a serious contender in the competitive streaming market.

With Spotify potentially at 100 million subscribers already and Apple past 50m, YouTube Music has some catching up to do. Now a new partnership with Sonos could help the Google-owned service make advances in 2019.

YouTube Music was already available on the Google Home range of smart speakers. Despite the obvious synergies there, it didn’t prevent a Spotify tie-up offering Google Home Mini speakers to family plan subscribers.

Through the Sonos app, YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium subscribers can now access the service on Sonos speakers. A free month’s trial is currently on offer to the streaming service as it tries to sign up new users.

Features available on Sonos include the Recommended playlists, YouTube Charts, New Releases including YouTube Music’s latest Artist On The Rise, Maggie Rogers. Your Mixtape is a personalised playlist that is constantly updated.

YouTube Music is available on Sonos in all 29 countries where the streaming service has launched to date, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, the UK and US.
