New Hope Club are hoping for a big 2018, and their presence on the soundtrack for new Nick Park animation Early Man will do their chances no harm at all.
Signed to The Vamps’ Steady Records, the trio feature twice in the prehistoric adventure, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston and sees Universal Globe partner with Park’s Aardman and Virgin EMI.
As well as contributing Vamps track Hope to the OST, frontman Brad Simpson produced New Hope Club’s cover of Tiger Feet and original song Good Day, which plays over the end credits.
Good Day was written by 2016 Music Week Sync Awards Artist Of The Year Jamie N Commons, as Globe’s senior director of sync, Adam Gardiner, explains.
“Anyone who’s seen Aardman’s films knows they’re made by people who love what they do, and that passion was evident throughout the music process,” he tells Music Week.
“Nick Park was very hands on about finding the right songs. He and Brad really hit it off. Aardman are a national treasure, and finding people to write for the project wasn’t difficult, Jamie jumped at the opportunity”.
He’s surely taught New Hope Club a thing or two about the sync world, too.
