BMG expands senior management team

BMG has announced details of an expansion to its senior management team in a move CEO Hartwig Masuch is calling a “significant realignment”.

Masuch has created two new positions, chief operating officer and chief human resources officer. Together with the CEO and chief financial officer Maximilian Dressendoerfer, they will form a new executive management board at BMG HQ.

The news follows Fred Casimir’s promotion to EVP, Global Recordings last month.

Masuch said: “Ten years after its launch BMG continues to grow strongly. That growth requires a constant evolution of our management structure. I am delighted to announce this significant realignment which will create more bandwidth for me and Max as we continue to grow the world’s fourth biggest music company.”

Ben Katovsky is promoted from EVP, Global Rights Administration to chief operating officer. In addition to his existing responsibilities around rights administration, digital service administration and supply chain management, he will now act across BMG’s operational functions including recorded and publishing royalty service, neighbouring rights and production music administration, US mechanical licensing and group technology.

Ama Walton, previously general counsel Europe, moves up to the role of global general counsel and chief human resources officer. Walton is responsible for all human resources in addition to her on-going responsibilities for legal, digital and business affairs as well as matters concerning copyright law, media policy and collecting societies.

Walton, who joined BMG from Constantin Film in 2017, will be responsible for all legal and business affairs including digital licensing agreements on an international level. She will report to Masuch.

Katovsky joined BMG in 2015 and has previously served at Vistex, he too will report to the CEO.
