China's biggest independent label invests in Circus Recordings

China’s largest independent label has launched a joint venture with DJ Yousef’s Circus Recordings in Britain.

Modern Sky Entertainment’s UK arm will invest in the house, techno and electronic label, plus examine possible opportunities in Asia.

DJ Yousef will continue to run and A&R Circus Recordings which has released music by the likes of Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Marco Carola, Scuba, Green Velvet, Steve Lawler and David Glass. 

The largest indie label in China and the promoter behind the country’s Strawberry Festivals, Modern Sky Entertainment operates across a number of areas in addition to records and live, including publishing and video.

“Modern Sky wants to support exciting, boutique record labels like Circus Recordings and invest in the creative personalities behind them such as DJ Yousef,” explains Sound City founder (pictured), who runs Modern Sky UK from its Liverpool office.

“We hope to be able to announce plenty more partnerships like this one, as a strong independent sector benefits both artists and music fans alike.”
