Lovebox and Citadel festivals moving to West London's Gunnersbury Park

Lovebox and Citadel are switching to West London's Gunnersbury Park.

Operated by Live Nation-owned MAMA Festivals, the events were previously held in Victoria Park in East London, prior to AEG Presents winning the exclusive rights to the site last year.

Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “I am delighted to welcome the Lovebox and Citadel Festivals to the borough this summer. Rightly recognised as among the very best anywhere across the capital and beyond, these festivals will boast acclaimed, international artists and a vibrant atmosphere for the many thousands of fans attending. Gunnersbury Park is a venue with an excellent record of hosting large public events including the London Mela, which has attracted over 90,000 visitors in the past.

Lovebox will be held from July 13-14, with Citadel to follow on July 15. Both events were originally announced for South London's Brockwell Park for 2018. No explanation has been given for the move but the Friends Of Brockwell Park (FOBP) group had opposed the applications "as being of a scale wholly unsuited to a small urban park such as Brockwell". All tickets purchased already will be fully transferable.

"Gunnersbury Park is currently undergoing a hugely positive transition which will see brand new sports facilities and wonderful historical buildings opening their doors in the near future, and hosting these festivals is another huge boost for the park. It also underlines Ealing’s reputation as a place to see great live events, further strengthening our bid to become London Borough of Culture 2019.”

Meanwhile, Eat Your Own Ears, which was also previously staged in Victoria Park, has confirmed it will relocate Field Day to Brockwell Park from June 1-2.

Speaking about the move, Field Day organiser Marcus Weedon said: "We’re delighted to be hosting Field Day 2018 in south London. We look forward to working with Lambeth Council, residents, local businesses and stakeholder groups to ensure the event in Brockwell Park is a huge success and lay the foundation for what we hope is our home for many years to come. We’ve had 11 incredible and memorable years in Victoria Park and very much look forward to bringing Field Day to Brockwell Park over two days in June."
