New 3,000-capacity venue set for Greenwich Peninsula

A new 3,000-capacity riverbank venue is set to launch in Greenwich  in summer 2019. 

Conceived by Venue Lab – a Vibration Group company and creators of Printworks London and Landing Forty Two – Magazine London is being billed as "one of the most important new event spaces in the city for decades".

The events space, situated near The O2 in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula, will offer a flexible 3,000 capacity venue (5394 sq m) – a blank canvas suitable for hosting anything from concerts, conferences, exhibitions, product launches, parties, award ceremonies and dinners. Vibration Group is partnering with international property and investment company Knight Dragon on the ground-up project.

Vibration Group CEO Simon Tracey said: “Working with Knight Dragon is an incredible opportunity. They are an extremely dynamic company with a proven international track record and developments in four continents.

“London is still very much at the forefront of live events globally and Magazine, with its incredible flexibility both indoor and out, is ground breaking.” 

One of its main USPs is the adjoining Showground boasts 13,985 sq m and a capacity of 7,000 – delivering a combined space of 19,379 sq m and capacity of 10,000, opening up the potential for festivals and outdoor concerts.

Knight Dragon CEO Richard Margree said: “Magazine London fits superbly with what we’re doing on Greenwich Peninsula – creating a new London underpinned by creativity, a community with culture and entertainment at its heart. As well as the hugely successful O2 and the Design District opening in 2020, Magazine London adds another dimension, and another destination, to the emerging Peninsula.” 

The Magazine London brand was created in conjunction with London’s Carter Studio, while the building was designed by  architect Nissen Richards, whose portfolio includes the V&A Lecture Theatre and Seoul Opera House.
