Six Questions With... Agoria

Six Questions With... Agoria

Welcome to the latest edition of Six Questions With..., a regular short and sharp interview with a live music figure. Email jhanley@nbmedia.com if you would like to take part or recommend someone for inclusion.

This week's Q&A is with French composer, producer, festival founder and AI afficionado Agoria, who recently played Coachella and released his new album Drift on Friday (April 26).

What was your first job in music?

I organised rave parties in my hometown of Lyon, which meant flying, booking artists, announcing infoline and networking in records shops. Meanwhile, I had a radio show on a local station, C’Rock Radio. I was happy to get a three-hour show on an indie radio. Broadcasting Detroit and Chicago records, but also the early trance records on Eye Q and Frankfurt Beat records, and obviously legendary Basic Channel ones.

How long have you been in your current role?

I’ve been DJing for almost 20 years I guess. Mature like a good bottle of wine, ready to open!

What is your favourite thing about working in the live music industry?

Getting the opportunity to feed my curiosity.

What is the one thing you would like to change about the business?

I'd like to change any business report, giving a financial value to the talent, to the kindness and in a way to the beauty of the chaos.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Seeing my mum dancing on a stage, enjoying it more than me.

What's the best gig you’ve ever been to?

Every show I would drift!
