'He's an exceptional, forward-thinking publicist': WMA ups Shane Hawkins

WMA has promoted Shane Hawkins to head of PR creative and media relations.

Hawkins joined the music and entertainment agency as a founding member of the team in 2013, as digital publicity assistant. He was then promoted to digital publicist in 2014 and to senior publicist in 2015.

Reporting into Heather Swaine, global publicity director, Hawkins’ new role draws on his creative background and editorial experience. He previously worked at Wonderland, Dazed and Disorder Magazine.

Hawkins will lead on all creative aspects of WMA Publicity, utilising a network of stylists, fashion brands, event organisers and creatives.

Seb Weller, founder and CEO, said: “We’re delighted to announce the promotion of Shane. He’s an exceptional forward thinking Publicist and has been a key part of WMA’s publicity division’s growth over the last five years. I’d like to thank him for all of his brilliant work so far, and his commitment to WMA and to all of our clients.”

Hawkins added: “It’s been a real privilege for me to be part of WMA with Seb and the team; to see the amazing growth and to have grown with it. The last five years have been both a personal and professional journey and I’m excited to be venturing into this next phase, continuing to deliver creative, innovative and outstanding campaigns for our artists and clients.”

Since opening in 2013, WMA has grown rapidly and now employs over 50 people across London, New York, LA, Nashville and Melbourne. The WMA client roster includes Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Kobalt Music Group, Disney, Spotify, Netflix, Instagram, Bacardi and Adidas.
