New edition of Music Week out now

Following last week’s incredible Women In Music Awards, in the new issue of Music Week we celebrate this year’s winners. Up first, as CEO of UK Music Jo Dipple made sure the music industry’s voice was heard throughout the corridors of power. As Dipple embarks on a new role, 2016’s Outstanding Contribution winner Alison Wenham kicks off our Women In Music issue by charting the making of a modern music business legend. On top of that, we have new interviews with Pamela McCormick, Sharleen Spiteri, Rebecca Allen, Grace Ladoja, Sas Metcalfe, Proper Music, Clara Amfo and Ray BLK.

Elsewhere in the features section, fresh from releasing the second biggest-selling UK debut of 2016, TV star Bradley Walsh is back with second album, When You’re Smiling. Music Week talks Q4 gifting and pop stardom with a man still getting to grips with the music business. Also inside, from karate-kicking movie cameos and syncs to intensive touring and a streaming uplift, Elton John is reaching new audiences as he enters his eighth decade. Music Week gets aboard the Rocket Man’s greatest hits campaign with the label, management and film director. Plus, Elton John and Bernie Taupin reveal all about why their songwriting partnership has endured for 50 years and produced countless classics.

Carla Marie Williams, songwriter for the likes of Britney Spears, Girls Aloud and more, recalls penning Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar’s Freedom in this week’s Hitmakers, and WIN’s Alison Wenham gives us her life lessons from the biz in The Aftershow.

In this week’s frontline section, Capitol Records UK GM Murray Rose tells Music Week that the label has ambitions to go “beyond” the multi-million sales of Sam Smith’s debut album with No.1 follow-up The Thrill Of It All. Plus, Mark Jansen, senior director of Ticketweb and Ticketmaster International artist services takes us inside the world of ticket/album bundles and Island Records UK MD Jon Turner predicts a “massive” 2018 for Post Malone following crossover hit Rockstar.

Joel Quartey, marketing manager, Columbia Records, is this week’s Rising Star, while Rinse FM DJ/presenter SK Vibemaker recommends Berna’s All Of It in the Tastemakers slot. Genre-hopping rapper Yxng Bane is this week’s On The Radar star, while Making Waves this week is singer-songwriter IAMDDB. Plus there’s all the very latest news, analysis, charts coverage and market share statistics.
