Music Week Presents: Tom Ashbrook

Music Week Presents: Tom Ashbrook

Born in Ilkley, Yorkshire and residing in Liverpool, a young Tom Ashbrook was classically trained as a pianist, encouraged to immerse in the arts when his parents bought him his first piano.

Ashbrook has since then accrued a wealth of experience, ranging from sharing the stage with Simply Red’s Mick Hucknell at the Royal Albert Hall, playing alongside Jools Holland as a session musician,

to composing for the prestigious Matthew Bourne Dance Company. In addition, he worked alongside Sir Paul McCartney and 6ix Toys composing the anthem for Liverpool’s 2008 award as European Capital of Culture city, and toured with well-known Pink Floyd Tribute band, Brit Floyd.

Billowing with feeling, his debut single 'Too Soon' comes equipped with a collage of visuals displaying a beautiful natural scenery. The cinematography flows seamlessly with the pensive piano passage, with a strong emphasis on water.

“The tape recording and fluttering nature of the piano is to imitate the beauty of water and I suppose how it makes up so much of us. At the same time, it can also tragically take lives” says Ashbrook about the song.

“We want to keep a mystery about the video, and I want it to be completely open to interpretation by the viewer”, he adds.

We're able to share the video for the first time below.
