PRS For Music names Andrea Martin as CEO

PRS for Music has announced that Andrea Martin has been appointed chief executive. She will take up the position on June 17.

Martin will replace Robert Ashcroft after a decade at the top of the collection society.

She has been president and CEO of three international business units with Reader's Digest Association, managing director of data services for the Royal Mail in the UK and President of ADT Canada.

Martin will lead an organisation of 500 people across two London sites and three joint ventures, representing 140,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers.

Martin said: “I am honoured and excited to lead PRS for Music and have the opportunity to shape the future of a renowned UK and global music business, that is inherent to its songwriters, composers and publishers. I look forward to working with the team and the Board to ensure our members and customers are well served.”

PRS chairman, Nigel Elderton, said: “Andrea is an exceptional business leader and I know will continue and accelerate PRS’ development into the world’s leading rights management organisation. Our industry is changing and increasingly competitive; we have to offer the best service and experience to every member, every customer and our employees too. I look forward to working with Andrea to deliver our vision and would like to welcome her on behalf of all of members.”

The Board of PRS extended their thanks to Ashcroft and noted that royalty revenues have grown 70% under his watch. He will work with Martin in her transition to the role as chief executive.
