Sarah Stennett: Publishing key to First Access future

Sarah Stennett has revealed plans to expand First Access Entertainment’s publishing business off the back of its new global administration deal with Warner/Chappell Music.

“We want to sign exceptional creative talent wherever that emerges from,” the CEO, who won this year’s Music Week Awards Strat Award, told Music Week. “So we want to support and publish exceptional songwriters.

The heart of the business is a great song. If you’ve got a great song, a great artist and luck on your side, you’re in a very strong position.”

First Access is perhaps best known for its artist management and brand partnership interests. Its publishing division had previously operated independently but will now be administered and represented for synch by Warner/Chappell after the publishing giant offered “the most competitive arrangement”.

First Access’ current roster includes the likes of Liam Bailey, Ray Djan and Ashton Foster but Stennett said they would now look to make additional signings.

“Of course we’re going to be signing new writers, but not in haste and not for the sake of just signing them,” said Stennett.

“We look for the right people, who fit into the community of First Access and can flourish in that environment.”
