'We are proud to partner with ICE on this mission': Mixcloud signs pan-European licensing deal

ICE has struck a major licensing deal with Mixcloud that adds repertoire from 290,000 members.

The streaming platform has signed up to a new ICE Core licence that covers the combined collection society membership of PRS, STIM and GEMA, as well as repertoire for some leading independent music publishers.

"We're excited to confirm a full pan-European deal with ICE," said Mixcloud co-founder Nico Perez. "Mixcloud has been supporting artists, songwriters and creators since the start, and we are proud to partner with ICE on this mission."

“We’re pleased to be partnering with Mixcloud, a service whose interests are completely aligned with ours in maximising identification of compositions within the long-form content space,” said Tim Rawlinson, head of licensing at ICE. “The service offers a fantastic opportunity for the songwriters and publishers we represent to have their works feature in a diverse range of content and be properly paid for it. The new multi-year, multi-territory deal will help the service to continue to do just that as it grows.”

Mixcloud currently has more than 1.2 million creators and 12 million DJ sets, radio shows and podcasts. Warner Music Group was the first major to sign up with the platform. I

Mixcloud's rights management system features audio fingerprinting from Gracenote, and its own bespoke metadata analysis and tracking system.

ICE has processed several billion online usages from digital service providers and distributed over 340 million euros (£298m) back to their collection society and publisher rights holders since 2016.
