Robbie Williams has become a co-owner of the Liverpool Media Academy's (LMA) new College & University Centre.

The singer's involvement coincides with the LMA expansion both in the UK and internationally, starting with the launch of a new London campus that is set to open its doors in 2020.

“I am delighted to now be an official member of the LMA Family," said Williams. "As soon as I met them all I was so inspired by their passion and drive and wanted to get involved – I hope I can help motivate the next generation of pop stars, performers and creatives.”

The ex-Take That man chose the LMA Choir as one of final four acts for the live shows when he took part in The X Factor last year.

LMA offers degree courses in musical theatre, acting, music performance, games & animation and film & TV production, which are validated by Staffordshire University.

“Bringing Robbie on board is a real dream come true for us all, as we know how passionate he is about developing young talent and sharing his knowledge, experience, creativity and connections," said LMA co-founder Simon Wallace.

“We’re now looking forward to our next chapter as we plan to expand LMA across the country and overseas – and we cannot thank our team of exceptionally talented tutors and, of course, our fantastic students for making all of this possible.”

Williams is set to play the closing date of this year's Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park shows on July 14.
