"She's got an amazing voice": Atlantic's Ben Cook on Rita Ora's global ambitions

Atlantic UK president Ben Cook has told Music Week he is “really excited” for Rita Ora, as she prepares to launch a comeback album in 2018.

The singer has set up her first album in six years with a strong performance internationally on the single Your Song and its follow-up Anywhere, as well as the collaboration with Avicii on Lonely Together.

Across the three tracks, Ora has UK sales of 1,409,852, according to the Official Charts Company. Your Song has the top tally with sales of 715,159.

“We’ve established a really great footprint,” Cook told Music Week. “It’s developing a real rhythm to her musical output as we approach an album next year.”

Following her lengthy absence between albums, Your Song has been her biggest hit in European markets and other global territories.

“She’s had her biggest hit ever internationally outside of America,” said Cook. “Globally, there’s an enormous thirst and appetite.”

As well as hosting this year’s MTV EMAs at SSE Arena, Wembley, Ora performed a medley of both her singles. Anywhere, which she also performed on Sounds Like Friday Night, has so far peaked at No.2 and is battling for the top spot with Atlantic's stellar performer Ed Sheeran.

“I think she’s got an amazing voice, and an amazing connection in how she communicates with fans and that’s just growing and growing, we’re really excited for her,” said Cook.
