Making waves: No Rome

In Making Waves this week, we take a look at Dirty Hit signing No Rome, who's heading out on tour with The 1975 in 2019...

KEY TRACK: Do It Again
LABEL: Dirty Hit
MANAGEMENT: All On Red
FACEBOOK: @no_rome

WHO: No Rome is the musical alias of 21-year-old Rome Gomez.

WHAT: With inspirations including My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Björk and Aphex Twin, No Rome makes gloopy, R&B-flavoured pop jams with high production values.

WHERE: Gomez was born and raised in Manila, but more recently he’s been living with Matthew Healy of The 1975, who discovered the SoundCloud muso and signed him to Dirty Hit.

WILL HE BE BIG, THEN?

Matthew Healy and Dirty Hit founder Jamie Oborne certainly think so. Healy has called Gomez his “muse”, and he decamped to LA with The 1975 this year to collaborate on new music with the frontman.

WHAT CAN I HEAR NOW?

The ‘big one’ is Narcissist, largely thanks to its featured artist, The 1975. Alongside hazy highlight Do It Again, it’s one of four tracks on this year’s RIP Indo Hisashi EP.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Just the small matter of a 2019 arena tour with The 1975. Gomez has barely toured, so it’s big news.
