Apple Music is extending its student membership offer to an additional 82 markets.
The move comes as new subscriber numbers show the tech giant’s music streaming service chasing Spotify in the US. Apple has also launched its HomePod smart speaker - a rival to devices including Amazon's Echo - for use with Apple Music.
The discount for the streaming subscription is typically 50% off the standard price. Student membership launched in 2016 for the US, UK, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
The expansion of the student offer, which is verified by UNiDAYs, now covers nearly all the countries where Apple Music is available. Three of the new market offers will launch on February 26, with Apple Music already offering the discount in the other 79 territories.
