Grammy Award nominated singer-songwriter James Bay is to perform an exclusive gig for international charity WaterAid, with fans invited to donate £5 to be in with a chance of winning one of 100 exclusive pairs of tickets.
The fundraising gig will be held at East London’s Hoxton Hall on January 26.
As of today, fans will be able to pay £5 to enter an online draw for the tickets, with proceeds going towards WaterAid’s work to help bring taps and toilets to some of the world’s poorest communities.
The competition closes on January 19, with winners selected at random on January 20.
“I’m excited to be working with WaterAid,” said Bay. “I first met them at Glastonbury having been aware of the work they do for a while. To be able to give something back and spread awareness, by doing something that I love, is a real honour.
“Water is essential for life, but we take it for granted. Around the world one in ten people live every day without it and that’s just crazy. We have to keep working to help change it. Enter now for the chance to join me at an intimate, stripped back performance. All profits from the competition will go towards WaterAid and help the vital work they do.”
Bay returns to the studio this year to write a new album after two years of touring around the world, including four sold out shows at the Hammersmith Apollo in March 2016.
This winter, WaterAid is running its Made of the Same Stuff campaign, which aims to improve access to life-saving clean water and sanitation facilities in poor communities the world over.
Lucy Cover, special events project manager at WaterAid, said: “We are so grateful to have this exciting opportunity to work with James Bay on what is set to be a fantastic concert, which will also help raise awareness and vital funds to help more people across the world access clean water, good sanitation and hygiene.
“We are working towards a world where everyone everywhere has access to these vital services by 2030. It might sound like a big challenge, but together we’re made of the stuff that makes history.
