Entries now open for Music Week Women In Music Awards 2018

The Music Week Women In Music Awards is back for another spectacular event celebrating the achievements of female executives and artists in the industry. As always, the much-loved event promises to be a day of impassioned winners’ speeches and major props from fellow execs.

Entries are now open for the fifth edition of the awards, which takes place on the afternoon of Friday, November 9, at The Brewery, near The Barbican in London.

The deadline for entries to this year’s Women In Music Awards is August 13, so don’t miss out on the chance to achieve recognition in a host of categories covering top executives, enduring and emerging artists and the next generation of industry talent. Full details for the criteria of each award are here and entries must be submitted online via the website.

This year’s ceremony includes a new category of Music Creative, for a woman in the UK industry who has made a significant contribution to the making of music behind the scenes through songwriting, studio production or studio technology.

Last year’s event saw executives from the global industry gather to honour the most successful women in music. Universal Music UK CEO/chairman David Joseph toasted the victory of Decca Records president Rebecca Allen in the Businesswoman Of The Year category. Kobalt president, global creative, Sas Metcalfe, flew in from LA to collect her International Woman Of The Year award and was cheered on by CEO and founder Willard Ahdritz and First Access Entertainment CEO Sarah Stennett.

The Music Week Women In Music Roll Of Honour will return – last year’s dozen inductees (pictured, alongside the 2017 award winners) included Vick Bain, Lara Baker, Annette Barrett, Karma Bertelsen, Suzanne Bull, Karen Buse, Leah Stockford, Caryn Tomlinson, Amber Davis, Michelle Kambasha, Gemma Reilly and Caroline Simionescu-Marin.

The regular Women In Music Awards categories are also back this year, including Businesswoman Of The Year, Inspirational Artist, Campaigner, Rising Star, Music Champion, New Artist Award, International Woman Of The Year and The Company Award. The full list can be viewed here.

Plus there’s the Outstanding Contribution honour, which last year went to Jo Dipple, whose spell in government meant the Women In Music Awards audience were treated to video speeches from former PM Gordon Brown and Lord Mandelson.

Other big winners last year included Sharleen Spiteri, Urban Development’s Pamela McCormick, Grace Ladoja, Skepta’s manager, founder and director Metallic Inc, Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, Ray Blk and Proper Music.
