The biz pays tribute to Jo Dipple

In the new issue of Music Week you can read Jo Dipple’s exit interview as she leaves UK Music after nine hugely successful years, with five served as CEO. Her resignation means the British music industry is losing one its most experienced and successful figures, having helped transform the body’s operations to make it a formidable lobbying group. As Michael Dugher takes over, various industry leaders have spoken to Music Week to pay tribute to her hard work…

“Jo did a great job as CEO of UK Music, helping the wider industry to find common positions on key issues and continually pressing Government to recognise the contribution that music makes to British culture and the economy.  We’ll miss her now that she is moving on, and we wish her all the very best in her next endeavours.”
Geoff Taylor, chief executive, BPI and BRIT Awards

“Jo has been a personal inspiration to me; she has led UK Music with aplomb. Helping the music industry work collectively is often like herding cats but herd us she has by helping to… build better relationships with government and enable the effectiveness of the APPG for Music, win a Judicial Review on the private copying exception, create hundreds of apprenticeships, coordinate an invaluable research program and protect BBC music services. All her achievements are too numerous to list here so I will simply say best of luck Jo!”
Vick Bain, CEO, BASCA

“Jo’s positive yet fearless attitude has seen UK Music develop further into a forward-thinking and engaged organisation, which genuinely represents the interests of the music industry – ranging from record labels, publishers and CMOs to managers, musicians, songwriters, studio producers and the live sector. During her eight year tenure, she has played a major role in bringing together and uniting a number of contrasting voices within the industry. Under Jo’s leadership, UK Music has become a healthier and stronger organisation and all of us at PPL thank her for her tireless work and commitment during that time.”
Peter Leathem, chief executive, PPL

“Jo has been an incredible asset to the music industry. Her connections, her strategy, her diplomacy and her good humour mean that she really is going to be a hard act to follow. Fortunately for us she built an amazing team around her. We're very grateful.“
Jane Dyball, CEO, MPA Group Of Companies

"I have very much enjoyed working with Jo over the last year and a half and was delighted with UK Music's support for the FanFair campaign and our successful outcome in Parliament. UK Music is a hugely influential body and I look forward to continuing to work on this issue and jointly push for artists rights with her successor."
Annabella Coldrick, chief executive, Music Managers' Forum (MMF)

“In UK Music, departing CEO Jo Dipple has built a credible and trusted body indeed, truly representing the industry and uniting the various members under common goals. Having joined UK Music the month it was launched, she has been an integral face of the music industry for nearly a decade. As CEO, Jo was truly gifted in her ability to bring together politics and music and help the two understand each other better, whether that was through the excellent reports she oversaw, or her successful lobbying of Government. The music landscape in 2017 would look much poorer without her work over the years. We wish her well for the future.”
Robert Ashcroft, Chief Executive of PRS for Music
