The first ever Heavy Music Awards is set to take place in London tonight (August 24). Public-voted awards across ten categories will be presented to a star-studded audience of musicians and industry guests at House of Vans.
Speaking ahead of the event, HMA co-founder Iain Johnson told Music Week, "We have been overwhelmed by the support for the HMAs in our first year, with the number of votes underlining how positively the scheme has engaged fans from the off. We have been working tirelessly alongside the incredible team at House of Vans London to deliver an unforgettable event, and we can't wait to share it with the heavy music family tonight."
Almost 100,000 votes were cast earlier this summer to decide the winners of Best Album, Best UK Band, Best International Band, Best Breakthrough Band, Best Photographer, Best Producer, Best Venue, Best Festival and Best Album Artwork.
The seven finalists in each category were chosen by a panel of more than 300 judges from across the music industry, with the coveted Best Album category featuring Architects, Biffy Clyro, Black Peaks, Black Sabbath, Bring Me The Horizon, Creeper and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
The event, backed by headline sponsor by EMP, will feature live performances from Creeper, Venom Prison, Vukovi and Dead!, is an invitation only reception.
The HMAs have also partnered with Eagle Rock Entertainment to premiere three tracks from Black Sabbath's End Of The End - the first time any part of the release has been seen publicly, over a month before the cinema release - and a further three tracks from Slipknot's Day Of The Gusano, documenting their set in Mexico City.
The event will be filmed and broadcast on Scuzz TV (Sky 367), premiering on Saturday 16 September at 9pm.
