'Songwriting is my creative outlet': Au/Ra signs with Warner/Chappell

Rising star Au/Ra has signed a worldwide deal with Warner/Chappell Music.

Real name Jamie Aura Stenzel, Au/Ra is best known for her CamelPhat collaboration Panic Room, which has generated more than 40 million streams to date.

Au/Ra said: “Songwriting is my creative outlet, and it’s at the heart of what I do as an artist. I’m so happy to be working with the team at Warner/Chappell moving forward, and I can’t wait to collaborate with some of their amazing songwriters! The last 18 months have been crazy and I’m so excited to be releasing more music in 2019.”

Born in Ibiza and raised in Antigua, the artist is the daughter of German music producer Torsten Stenzel.

Mike Smith, MD, Warner/Chappell Music UK, said: “Au/Ra is already proving an incredible songwriter, combining lyrics about serious issues with infectious upbeat melodies.  She’s already made a huge impact and her career is only just beginning – we look forward to supporting her as she becomes a massive star.”

Au/Ra just released a new EP, X Games (RCA/Sony), which contains Emoji, a song about the safety net of talking to someone through text messages rather than meeting in real life.

Recent months have seen her tour North American in support of Tove Stryke. She also toured across Europe with Eden before concluding with Pete Tong’s UK arena tour.
