A charity auction to raise money for Delays' frontman Greg Gilbert's cancer treatment has gone live.
Father-of-two Gilbert, 39, was recently diagnosed with stage four-bowel cancer, which has now spread to his lungs, and urgently needs treatment not currently available on the NHS.
Gift donations for the auction, which runs until March 9, have been made by Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Maccabees, Mark Radcliffe, The Vaccines, Daniel Avery, Pixies and Premises Studios London. Items can be viewed here.
Lots include signed Coldplay, Mumford & Sons and Kaiser Chiefs LPs, a guitar signed by Craig David, Manic Street Preachers memorabilia and copies of Be Here Now (CD) and Supersonic (DVD), signed by Liam Gallagher.
Fans of Delays have previously launched a number of initiatives to help fund Gilbert's specialist overseas treatment. A Crowdfunding page was set up, while the band's former lighting designer Ed Warren is organising a fundraising night - Cavalry (named after a Delays' lyric) - which will take place at the 850-capacity venue in Gilbert's home city of Southampton on February 17. The night will feature acoustic sets from Mystery Jets and Band Of Skulls, members of Delays with Primal Scream bassist Simone Marie, Sam Duckworth, The Diamond Age and Thomas Tantrum, with more special guests to be announced.
