Niall Horan releases new solo single

Niall Horan has unveiled details of his new single Slow Hands.

Released today (May 4) via Capitol and Virgin EMI, the song was co-written by Horan and produced by Julian Bunetta at East/West Studios in Los Angeles.

Horan said: “I’m so happy to be releasing Slow Hands. I've been listening to a lot of early 80’s stuff lately and been inspired by that heavy bass and the funky guitar sound. It’s another flavor to my album that I’m excited to share."

The track follows Horan’s solo bow This Town, which has amassed 350 million worldwide streams since September last year. After achieving a first week sales figure of 37,358, it peaked at No.9 in the UK and has shifted 284,951 copies so far, according to the Official Charts Company. It hit No.1 in 60 countries in the first 24 hours of release.

It also comes in the wake of Harry Styles’ debut solo single Sign Of The Times, which reached No.1 by shifting 62,900 copies in Week One and has so far sold 161,467 copies. Styles releases his debut album on May 12.

Last year, fellow One Direction member Zayn’s debut single Pillowtalk debuted at No.1 on sales of 112,497. Then in December, Louis Tomlinson launched his debut solo single Just Hold On, which registered sales of 47,626.

All eyes will be on the Midweeks come Monday to see how Horan’s latest is performing.
