Sony Classical has signed UK contemporary composer and pianist Alexis Ffrench to the label.
Ffrench has already racked up 50 million streams and 100,000 active Spotify listeners per month. He’s represented by Modest Management, home to artists including Little Mix and Olly Murs.
Harry Magee, director, Modest Management, said: “From our first meeting with Alexis, we knew he had something special. We share the same drive and ambition. He has a forward-thinking vision that firmly sets him apart. Not only a virtuoso pianist, but a composer and personality who will be a real flag-bearer for classical music in the streaming age. By bringing what we at Modest do together with his vision and ability, we believe the sky is the limit. Mark Cavell and his team got this immediately and with Sony Classical, we couldn’t have better partners.”
Ffrench is an alumnus of the Purcell School Of Music, Royal Academy Of Music and Guildhall School Of Music and Drama. Pitched as a potential crossover artist, he combines his classical training with a love of R&B and roots music.
A new single, Bluebird, is released by Sony on September 22. Ffrench plays the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room on November 20.
