PPL’s merger with PAMRA and AURA was described as the most fundamental development in the music licensing company’s history. Ten years on, it has lived up to that billing.
Performers had no rights until legislation changed at the end of the 20th century, at which point PAMRA (Performing Artists’ Media Rights Association) and AURA (Association Of United Recording Artists) came into being: PAMRA collecting for non-featured performers and AURA for featured.
