Golden Discs has struck a new deal with Exertis and Tesco in Ireland, which will see standalone stores selling music, games and movies appear in 80 of the supermarket giant’s branches across the country.
Ireland’s only homegrown music retail brand, Golden Discs operates 14 stores across the country and has grown its business in recent years thanks in no small part to the boom in vinyl sales.
Now, the company will be looking to significantly expand its reach throughout Ireland via its elevated presence in Tesco stores.
“This is an exciting new chapter for Golden Discs,” said Stephen Fitzgerald, CEO of Golden Discs. “Marrying our product knowledge and specialist credentials with the geographical reach and scale of Tesco will both enhance the customer experience and grow the business.”
Sheila Gallagher, commercial director, Tesco Ireland, added: “Tesco is committed to providing our customers with the best retail experience possible and to supporting Irish suppliers when the opportunity presents. We are delighted that our customers will be able to enjoy its innovative range of home-entertainment offerings and music, movie and games products as part of their Tesco shop.”
