'A tremendous opportunity': TuneCore partners with Tencent Music

TuneCore has announced a partnership with Tencent Music Entertainment Group. The deal means that TuneCore artists’ recordings will be available to the huge Tencent Music user base in China.

The independent company’s global distribution platform pays artists 100% of what they earn from digital streams and downloads. TuneCore provides distribution, publishing administration and promotional services. It reached $1.5 billion in artist revenue earlier this year.

"TuneCore is the go-to platform for independent artists to expand their audiences and scale their income worldwide," said Scott Ackerman, CEO, TuneCore. "We create partnerships, tools and services that bring the greatest possible value to musicians, and this alliance with Tencent Music is a tremendous opportunity in a fast-growing and sought-after market.”

TuneCore artists – now totalling 250,000 – distribute their music to over 150 digital platforms worldwide including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, Google Play and now Tencent Music.

Music distributed by TuneCore will be available on Tencent Music services QQ Music (focused on popular artists and hits), Kugou Music (a music service with entertainment features and a mass-market focus) and Kuwo Music (focused on diverse genres, ranging from DJ mixes to children’s songs).
