Amazon Music names Adam Block global head of catalogue

Amazon Music has hired music industry veteran Adam Block as global head of music catalogue. He will be based in the New York office. 

In the newly-created position, Block will report to Ryan Redington, director of Amazon Music.

Block’s role will be to drive the catalogue music strategy for Amazon Music, while continuing to build partnerships with labels and artists to expand and enhance their music legacies in the streaming era. 

Amazon Music and Alexa won in the new Consumer Innovation category at the Music Week Awards.

Block joins Amazon Music from a 26-year career at Sony Music Entertainment where he served various roles, including his most recent position as president, Legacy Recordings.

At Legacy, he established a global strategy for the management and marketing of Sony’s catalogue of audio and visual assets, while building relationships with artists, managers, and estates. 

Previous Legacy Recordings positions included EVP, general manager and SVP, general manager. He began his career at EMI Music/EMI Records in the press and marketing departments.

Block currently serves as a co-chair for the Asbury Park Music in Film Festival.
