Amazon Prime Music is now available to stream on Sonos.
The retail giant's music service joins competitors including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Google Play Music and Deezer, which are all already supported on the hardware.
“Prime Music has been very well received by UK customers, so we’re delighted to continue to add features and offer customers the opportunity to stream Prime Music through Sonos from today,” said Steve Bernstein, director, digital music, Amazon EU.
“To celebrate the launch, we’re giving Amazon customers in the UK and Germany the chance to win Sonos speakers and tickets for the exclusive Prime Music House Party at Sonos Studios in London this May; this unique event will be a great way to celebrate the launch of this partnership with our customers.”
Amazon has yet to reveal any figures for the number of Prime Music users in the UK, although Amazon UK’s head of music, Paul Firth, told Music Week back in January that there are “millions” of Prime customers in the UK and that the music service’s month-on-month growth has been expanding “at a faster rate than expected”.
To celebrate the new partnership, Amazon will be giving away one Sonos PLAY:1 speaker every day from Friday (April 29) to Thursday (May 5) for Prime members who stream specific Prime Playlists (with more info available online). In addition, Amazon will host a special Prime Music House Party at Sonos Studio in Shoreditch, with a special DJ performance by Mark Hill.
