Amazon revenues up 31% in Q2

Amazon's revenue was up 31% to $30.4 billion in the second quarter, in which it made $1.78 per share.

Both numbers were significantly above Wall Street projections, according to Billboard, with the figures representing the fifth-straight quarter of profits for Amazon.

"It's been a busy few months for Amazon around the world, and particularly in India," CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement, highlighting the launch of Amazon Web Services and Prime in the region. "The team in India is inventing at a torrid pace, and we're very grateful to our Indian customers for their welcoming response."

Last week, Amazon Prime Music celebrated its first anniversary The company revealed that the number of consumers using the service had doubled since launch and that British artists were currently dominating its streaming charts.
