Cardi B, Paul McCartney and Ariana Grande win big in YouTube Rewind's 2018 Top 10 lists

Following on from end of year wrap-ups from Spotify and Apple earlier in the week, YouTube Rewind has listed the top trending videos and music videos on YouTube in the UK for 2018, based on UK views.

In its Top Trending Videos in the UK – spanning all content – Paul McCartney’s Carpool Karaoke clip was No.1, the video. At the time of writing it had 35m views worldwide. In what is surely good news for the biz, a number of Top 10 entries were music related, with Arianna Grande appearing twice (once for her Carpool Karaoke and again for her Musical Genre Challenge with Jimmy Fallon clip). Courtney Hadwin’s winning America’s Got Talent performance also featured in the Top 10.

YouTube Rewind also unveiled the Top Music Videos in the UK, with Cardi B, Jess Glynne, Dua Lipa and Anne-Marie all making appearances.

Back in May of this year, YouTube revamped its charts service, promising to showcase the success of a range of artists from “emerging stars to perennial chart-toppers”. The news came ahead of the relaunch of YouTube’s paid subscription service.

Last month, Lyor Cohen, YouTube’s global head of music, maintained the platform's anti-Article 13 agenda with a strongly worded blog post about how he believes the measures will “harm” the creative industry.
