While Despacito was the song of the summer that signalled the rise of Latin music, it’s another artist that’s just broken a big record on Spotify.
Me Rehúso by Warner Music’s Danny Ocean has become the Latin song with the most weeks on Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart, surpassing Luis Fonsi’s smash hit.
Me Rehúso entered the chart on April 1, and has now logged 36 weeks and counting. The song reached its peak position, No. 18, four months after it debuted on the list.
The song currently has more than 478m streams on Spotify, while the video has over 851 million views on YouTube – still some way off Despacito’s 4.5 billion.
On Spotify’s recent Year in Music lists, Me Rehúso was named the No. 1 most-listened to track in Colombia, Chile and Mexico.
Venezuelan-born singer Ocean has released his follow-up single, Dembow.
