Deezer has entered into a multi-year partnership with Manchester United in an unusual move for the streaming company.
Both existing and former Manchester United players, including Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ashley Young and Rio Ferdinand will feature in a viral campaign in support of the partnership, which is being launched today across social media channels.
As the official music partner, Deezer will be providing the club’s fans with exclusive playlists, opportunities to hear match day playlists when at Old Trafford, and the introduction of a Deezer widget which will allow fans to access their Deezer account within the Manchester United digital properties. The streaming service will also offer fans unlimited access to its content as well as access to Deezer’s signature feature Flow.
Deezer is already the exclusive source of live Premier League commentary in 37 European countries outside the UK & Ireland, with 380 matches per season in both English and Spanish. According to Deezer it will shortly be announcing another significant sports partnership in Europe.
Commenting on the deal, Deezer’s CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with one of the most recognised football teams in the world to give fans that are both hugely passionate about music and football access to compelling, entertaining and innovative content. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with Manchester United over the next few years and to delivering what we believe will be the very best user experience”.
