New singles from Katy Perry and Britney Spears are released today – and Apple Music has them both exclusively.
Katy Parry’s Rise, her first release since 2013’s Prism, is a tie-in with NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympics, which kick off next month. At the time of writing, the video for Rise had not yet been debuted, but Britney Spears’ Make Me, the first single from her upcoming ninth studio album, is available on Vevo for those fans without an Apple Music account.
NBC Olympics will use Rise in the lead up up to and throughout the 2016 Rio Olympics.
“This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface,” said Perry. “I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite.
“I know that together we can rise above the fear - in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honoured that NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games.”
Perry is the biggest-selling digital artist in the world with more than 10 billion streams worldwide. She is the most-followed person worldwide on social media.
