Lewis Capaldi’s run of huge success looks set to continue with some big streaming numbers for his debut.
Ahead of the release of Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (EMI) on Friday (May 17), Music Week can reveal that it is the most pre-added album on Apple Music in the UK ever. It currently has 113,300 pre-adds with Apple Music users in the UK.
"For Lewis to break the record for pre-adds with his first album is an incredible achievement,” said George Ergatoudis, head of Apple Music, UK and Ireland. “It is a brilliant body of work and shows the enduring appeal of albums to music fans."
The potential for a strong streaming performance for the entire album follows heavy consumption of new LPs by Dave and Billie Eilish on DSPs. National Album Day, which will return this year, is encouraging full streaming of long-players.
Someone You Loved is currently the biggest track of 2019 so far in terms on streaming on Apple Music in the UK. Based on Official Charts Company data, the former No.1 single by Capaldi has equivalent sales of 948,746.

The single reached No.1 on the Apple Music Daily Top 100: UK Chart in mid-February.
The Scottish singer-songwriter is enjoying a new hit with Hold Me While You Wait, while Grace (359,894 sales - OCC) remains in the Top 30. He has also added dates to his 2020 arena tour, which includes two nights at SSE Arena, Wembley.
The UK is Capaldi’s biggest market for Apple Music, followed by the US, Canada, Germany (where he was first signed), Australia, France, South Africa, Ireland, Russia and Japan.
Apple’s streaming platform championed Capaldi as New Artist of the Week upon the release of his debut single Bruises in summer 2017. Apple Music has gone on to add his songs to some of its biggest playlists, including Best of the Week, Mellow Days, Acoustic Chill and Future Hits.
Capaldi has been Shazamed in 190-plus countries, with the top five markets being Italy, UK, Germany, France and USA.
