Music Week will be featuring Apple Music and iTunes charts every week from today’s issue (June 25).
With Apple Music’s burgeoning subscription take-up making it a key streaming player, Music Week will now feature Apple Music Songs and Albums charts from the UK and US, as well as a chart tracking the most popular playlists by audience numbers within the Apple Music ecosystem.
UK and US Songs and Albums charts from iTunes will also feature as part of our unique and exclusive charts section, available every week in our print edition. They will appear alongside our regular charts coverage, with charts from the Official Charts Company, Radio Monitor, Spotify, Vevo and Music Week’s Club Charts and Alan Jones’ legendary charts analysis.
“The Apple Music charts are an important barometer of success and popularity with our customers and the music industry,” said Brian Rose, Apple’s country manager, UK & Ireland. “Adding the Apple Music songs, albums and playlist charts to the iTunes Music Store charts in Music Week gives its readers the chance to view popularity across even more of Apple’s unique music ecosystem each week.”
Apple recently poached former Radio 1 boss George Ergatoudis from Spotify to be head of Apple Music UK. Another former BBC exec, Ryan Newman, has also recently joined Apple to head up urban playlisting.
