MusicTank to host The Economics of Streaming: Full Stream Ahead? debate

Music industry think tank and business information hub MusicTank has confirmed speaker details for its forthcoming debate.

The Economics of Streaming: Full Stream Ahead? will be discussed from 7pm to 9.30pm on Thursday, June 15, at Fyvie Hall, University of Westminster.

The discussion will feature keynote speaker and academic, Peter Tschmuck, whose soon-to-be-published book - The Economics of Music - questions the profitability and sustainability of streaming and speculates on a near future of further market consolidation synonymous with mergers, acquisitions and probable bankruptcies.

"Peter Tschmuck’s analysis of the streaming model is a welcome contribution to the debate about the viability of paid-for streaming services," said Keith Harris (pictured), chair of MusicTank, University of Westminster. "This think tank is timely, coming at a time when the recorded music business might be said to have turned a corner and in the wake of label renegotiations with Spotify, and further service refinement from the likes of Deezer [user-centric licensing] and Pandora which further nuance the streaming model."

Admission is currently available at the Super Earlybird rate of £15 (students £10).
