Primephonic launches iOS app for mobile classical music listening

Today (December 5) Primephonic, the high resolution streaming service dedicated to classical music, has expanded its offering to include a dedicated iOS app for on-the-go high-quality listening.

Key features of the iOS app include the ability to search over 100,000 classical music tracks in high resolution, 16-bit FLAC file format from your iOS device and a tailored search functionality, designed especially for a classical music catalogue, where all versions of a classical composition is in one place. Users can also search by album, composer, soloist, orchestra or label and easily switch to MP3-quality streaming as desired.

The high resolution streaming service and iOS app are available now in the United States and the United Kingdom. The platform is also available as a mobile-optimised website for other mobile users. Primephonic are offering a 30-day free trial, and a subscription costs £14.99 (UK) / $14.99 (US) per month for unlimited access to its catalogue.

Speaking about the app’s launch, Thomas Steffens, CEO of Primephonic said: “Primephonic’s mission is simple – to bring classical music into the digital streaming age and to offer an uncompromising way to listen to the world’s best works. The launch of our iOS app is simply the next step as we continue to evolve the user offering in a way that suits modern lovers of classical music.”

Primephonic’s streaming service – available to stream in 16-bit FLAC file format (CD quality) – launched in June this year and offers a catalogue of over 10,000 classical music albums from hundreds of labels including Sony Classical and Warner Classics, with hundreds of tracks added each day.
