James Arthur has been recognised with a three billion streams award from Spotify.
The award is in recognition of his global hit Say You Won’t Let Go surpassing the three billion total on the platform – only the 15th song to do so.
Originally released in 2016, Say You Won’t Let Go spent three weeks at No.1 in the UK. It has since reached six times platinum status in honour of more than 3.6 million UK chart sales.
It was also certified Diamond in the US for 10 million-plus sales, and topped several international charts. In total, the track has exceeded four billion streams across all platforms.
“James Arthur is an extraordinary artist who has already touched millions of people with his songs,” said Daniel Malat, senior vice president, Columbia Label Group, Sony Music Entertainment Germany. “We are incredibly happy and proud to present him with an award for another extraordinary achievement. We are sure that James will continue to touch and impress us with his music and look forward to everything that is to come.”
James Arthur said: “I’m so proud of writing this little ditty, one of just 15 songs in history to reach three billion streams on Spotify. We’ve taken it around the world and back and everywhere we go everyone knows the words. It’s incredible how many lives it’s touched.”
Earlier this year, James Arthur’s latest album, Bitter Sweet Love, peaked at No.1 in the UK, his first domestic chart-topper since Back From The Edge in 2016.
He has just released new single ADHD.
