Spotify has confirmed the appointment of Austin Daboh as UK head of shows & editorial.
He takes over from George Ergatoudis, who quit last month after two-and-a-half years to head up Apple Music in the UK.
The promotion, which takes immediate effect, is recognition of Daboh’s work on artist and label relations in urban music. He has also expanded the Who We Be playlist into a successful live event, following its launch last year. The move mirrored similar US activity around US playlists.
As well as heading up UK shows and editorial at the streaming giant, Daboh will continue to oversee its urban music strategy. In a recent Music Week interview, he said: “The message is coming across loud and clear that Spotify is here to support you and give you global levels of exposure."
Daboh joined Spotify two years ago as senior editor, shows & editorial. He was recruited from BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he was music manager for two-and-a-half years.
James Foley has taken on the senior editor role following the promotion of Daboh.
Spotify recenty appointed former Vevo executive Tom Connaughton as UK MD.
