We care a Dot: Artists and execs big up Apple Music's Dotty

Former BBC 1Xtra star Dotty is Music Week's latest cover star.

In our cover feature, Ashley "Dotty" Charles opens up about her vision for the streaming giant and supporting black music in the UK.

Here, key figures from the industry and artists she's supported over the years at BBC 1Xtra open up about Apple Music's new signing...

“Dotty is one of the most respected presenters in the country, who always uses her platform to champion new talent as much as she can. I’m excited to see how she will continue to help shape culture at Apple and I look forward to hearing her on Apple Music 1!”
Austin Daboh, EVP, Atlantic Records UK

Dotty’s taste is exceptional because she used to be a rapper. She’s had many different roles within music, including A&R, so she’s well versed when it comes to rap music. Her influence comes from her genuine connection to the scene and how hard she’s worked to get to the top.”
Ghetts, artist

“Dotty is an authority in her field, and has made a major contribution to the music scene over the years. Her best quality is her authenticity, she always keeps it real.”
Stefflon Don, artist

Dotty will have you in tears of laughter, tears of emotion and turning up the volume that bit louder for the music she truly believes in

Rob Pascoe

“Dotty continues to be an invaluable broadcaster, curator and leading figure for UK rap, and has been for many years. Very few broadcasters can cut through the speakers and headphones with such energy and passion for artists and songs. Dotty will have you in tears of laughter, tears of emotion and turning up the volume that bit louder for the music she truly believes in. Producer Robby also needs a special mention as ‘air traffic control’ for the incredible shows. She has been an integral part of many EMI campaigns over the years and we truly look forward to working with Dotty, Robby and the team at Apple Music 1.”
Rob Pascoe, MD, Motown Records UK

“I love Dotty, I remember listening to her when she made music years ago, and listening to her breakfast radio show to wake me up. And now she’s part of the Apple Music 1 family, we’re welcoming her with both arms. She’s an amazing broadcaster and effortlessly hilarious.”
Rebecca Judd, Apple Music radio presenter

“Dotty is someone I respect and admire massively. Her passion, commitment and drive to support and showcase black music and culture over the years is undeniable. She’s an amazing broadcaster, entertainer and friend and I know she will continue to be a valued voice in the community.”
Wretch 32, artist
