Atlantic Records UK has signed DJ/producer Joel Corry to a long-term artist deal.
It follows Atlantic’s success with Corry’s UK No.1 Head & Heart (Asylum/Perfect Havoc) feat. MNEK, which has spent five consecutive weeks at the summit, making it the longest-running continuous chart-topper of the year so far.
The single has 434,168 sales so far, according to the Official Charts Company. It led a Top 3 run of singles this week for Atlantic.
Corry’s last three singles – Sorry, Lonely and Head & Heart – have accumulated more than 2.7 million worldwide sales to date.
Briony Turner, co-president, Atlantic Records UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Joel to the Atlantic roster. He is a hugely exciting breakthrough act who is enjoying amazing success at the moment. I would like to congratulate Kevin Christian-Blair on this fantastic signing and Charlie, Michael, Neil and George at Tileyard Music for the brilliant job they are doing: we couldn’t be more thrilled that Joel has signed to a long-term deal.”
Ed Howard, co-president, Atlantic Records UK, said: “Joel has become one of 2020’s biggest success stories off the back of a string of hit singles, including the UK No.1 Head & Heart, which is testament both to his undeniable artistry and work ethic and to the label’s passion for developing and breaking artists, even in the challenging circumstances that we find ourselves in. I’d like in particular to shout out the amazing job done by Adam Griffin and Rob Davies at Perfect Havoc over the past two years.”
Atlantic has enjoyed a successful partnership with Corry, who was originally signed in 2018 to Perfect Havoc, which is affiliated with Warner Music’s ADA. The Head & Heart campaign had the support of Atlantic UK’s A&R, marketing, promotions and publicity teams.
Last April, Atlantic licensed Corry’s breakout single Sorry which broke the record for the most Shazamed track in one 24-hour period with more than 41,000 tags. The track climbed the UK charts after a sync placement on ITV2’s Love Island, eventually peaking at No.6.
Corry’s second single under Atlantic, Lonely, was released at the start of 2020 and climbed to No.4 in the OCC. The track also broke into the Top 10 in four other countries.
Atlantic will continue to work with Perfect Havoc on Corry’s next two singles.
