Following the BPI AGM, featuring a keynote address from Facebook’s VP, EMEA Nicola Mendelsohn, the labels association has confirmed the election results to the BPI Council.
Henry Semmence, owner of Absolute Label Services, has been re-elected as one of six designated independent representatives on the BPI’s Council alongside Alice Dyson-Jones, commercial director of One Media IP, who serves for the first time.
“I believe that my experience, backed by the knowledgeable team at Absolute, equips me to give an effective voice to the needs and aspirations of the independent community,” said Semmence. “I am delighted to have been re-elected and will do all I can to repay the faith entrusted in me so that collectively we can address key issues as well as embrace the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
Alice Dyson-Jones added: "Having been voted on to the BPI Council, I appreciate the challenges ahead and look forward to addressing the issues of the 'Value Gap' that the industry faces together with representing the views of my indie colleagues to ensure growth in our sector."
Max Lousada, CEO recorded music for Warner Music Group (effective October 1), and Nicola Tuer, COO Sony Music UK, were re-elected to fill two of the six places designated to majors on the BPI Council that had become vacant on rotation.
The BPI Council is the key forum for determining BPI policy and activity.
