Brotherhood, the latest instalment of Noel Clarke’s ‘hood’ film series, feature Stormzy in his debut acting role, along with a soundtrack showcasing some of the most exciting talent from the UK grime scene.
Following on from writer and director Clarke’s Kidulthood and Adulthood films, Brotherhood sees Stormzy cast in the role of Yardz, performing alongside Clarke who reprises the Sam Peel character from the previous films, as his struggle to break free from a troubled background continues.
Hitting screens 10 years after the series began with Kidulthood, the film is set to a soundtrack boasting several original tracks from both new and established grime artists written especially for the film.
Released through Black Butter Records/Unstoppable Records, it includes music from Stormzy, Krept & Konan, Chip, WSTRN, Fekky & Giggs, J Hus, Laura Mvula, AJ Tracey and Nines.
In the lead up to the release, Black Butter Records/Unstoppable Records launched a nationwide competition via media partner LINK UP TV for aspiring MC’s to send in their original verses over a Maniac instrumental. Curtis Clacey was announced as the winner of the competition, his prize being a place on the official soundtrack with the track Escape.
Brotherhood is released on September 2. Check out the trailer below.
