The new team at Warner Bros US continue to make waves.
Now settled in to the state of the art new Warner Music Group offices in downtown Los Angeles – away from their iconic former home in Burbank – things continue to move at a fast pace, with co-chairman and CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck today unveiling a new joint venture with R&R Records.
R&R founders Ben Persky, Mason Klein and Will Perliter launched the label in 2016 and pursued an aggressive digital strategy for its artists, scoring streaming success for the likes of Mt Joy and Sorcha Richardson. The first signings to the JV are singer-songwriters Dijon and Wens.
Persky and Klein have also been running Mixed Management since 2010, which has had success with the likes of RL Grime, Baauer, DJDS and Adele/Niall Horan/Florence + The Machine songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr.
“I’ve been following Ben and Mason’s careers for years now,” said Bay-Schuck, who has hit the ground running since joining co-chairman and COO Tom Corson at the label. “And I’ve been impressed by the level of artists and songwriters they’ve been championing, on both the management and label sides. They have great taste, an authentic approach, and a clear vision of what R&R represents. Dijon and Wens are compelling, original voices and fantastic artists to kick off our partnership. Tom Corson and I are thrilled to welcome R&R into the WBR family.”
A statement from Persky and Klein said: “Through this partnership, we’re excited to establish a global presence and offer our artists more comprehensive support. Aaron and Tom have been encouraging of our vision from the beginning, and we love what they’re doing at Warner Bros. They have an amazing team, and it’s an exciting place to grow talent. We’re incredibly proud to launch our joint venture with Dijon and Wens, two artists whom we feel represent the ethos and direction of R&R.”
The US label has also recently hired Nate Albert as EVP of A&R; promoted Ben Larsen to SVP, international marketing; launched a label with Justin Tranter and Katie Vinten; and launched a new talent venture with songwriter/producer Busbee’s company Altadena in recent months.
