One-day 5-a-side football tournament The Indie Music Cup returns for its third year this month.
Taking place at Powerleague Shoreditch, East London on Saturday, June 10, the event sees the independent music sector come together to raise money for charity. The 2017 tournament has doubled in size and will host 32 mixed gender teams. The cup runs from 2- 6pm, with entry priced at £3.
This year, the tournament will see the likes of Ninja Tune, NTS, Eat Your Own Ears, Rough Trade shops, Domino, Heavenly Records, Boiler Room Ladies, Resident Advisor, Young Turks, Spotify, Secretly Canadian, Mixmag, She Said So and more competing to win the trophy.
All proceeds will be donated to Syria Relief, a UK charity helping those caught in the conflict. The money raised will be directed to a ‘safe school’ in Ghouta, an area that has been besieged for 6 years, where the education system has collapsed and currently school enrolment is at 6%.
RSH Audio will provide a soundsystem for the afternoon, with Throwing Shade and Shy One among the DJs. Unannounced special guests are also set to feature on the bill.
The Indie Label Market will host a record fair, with bargains and one-off gems from the likes of Young Turks, !K7, 4AD, Secretly Canadian, Because, Ninja Tune, Big Dada, Moshi Moshi, R&S, Marathon and others. Yiro will provide Greek fusion food and there will be a fully stocked bar.
An after-party courtesy of Resident Advisor will take place at the Lion & Lamb in Hoxton from 6pm–2am. The full line-up is to be announced, but so far DJs from Ninja Tune, Dekmantel, NTS, Worldwide FM, Resident Advisor, Mixmag and Rye Wax have been confirmed. All proceeds from the after-party will also go to Syria Relief.
